Facilities at the Central Coordinating Center for Research (CCR).

The CCR at CNCD houses current state of the art equipments to meet the standards of international research. A molecular biology facility is available to the current investigators at CNCD, Pakistan. Research groups based at CNCD regularly perform DNA/RNA extractions, PCRs, protein electrophoresis, and serum analyses using automated analyzers. There is a well-integrat ed setup of core equipment which includes facilities to perform DNA extraction, and PCR’s. Facilities to store biological samples such as liquid nitrogen tanks (with good facilities to supply dry ice), -80 0C (x11), and -20 0C (x6) freezers are also available. All the freezers are connected to a central alarm system and technical help is available 24-hours in cases of emergency. CNCD has its own back-up generator which is able to cover electricity deficits in case of a power failure. The investigators in the current application already have a working group of administrative staff in Pakistan which include research physicians, laboratory associates and other field staff.
